Technical Architect (Freelancer, all genders)

Your challenge

We are looking for an experienced Technical Architect (Freelancer, all genders), to support us during the absence of our own internal expert (who is on a sabbatical). This will be both an advisory and implementation focused role – the remit entails the evaluation of our status quo, defining the overall technical architecture strategy and working together with our engineering team to build a more scalable and flexible set up for the future.

We are looking for someone with extensive expertise in software architecture, cloud technologies, and system integration, with a passion for advancing the EV charging landscape. The role has influencing and decision making authority – the perfect candidate will be responsible for architecture decisions, trade-offs, and communicating architectural rationale.

Your Tasks

Architectural Leadership: Develop and maintain high-level architecture domains (cloud, data, application, integration, security) for our platform, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security of all technology components (including standards, patterns, and architectural governance).
Technical Strategy: Define technical direction and technology roadmap aligned with business objectives, ensuring the use of innovative technologies and best practices. The following outcomes are expected: target-state architecture, modernization roadmap, platform scalability strategy, technology decision-making.
Design & Development Oversight: Guide the software design and development processes, including code reviews, architectural reviews, and technical support for development teams.
Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Operations to align architecture with roadmap and business priorities. Communicate architectural recommendations and reasoning to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate with them to gather requirements and provide updates.

Your Profile

10+ years experience designing distributed systems, cloud-native patterns, integration and platform architecture• Experience with high availability, scalability, reliability and cloud architecture patterns.
Extensive experience in cloud computing and system architecture, preferably with certifications in cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google cloud -
Proven experience designing and implementing complex, large-scale systems and applications
Deep understanding of architectural patterns, principles, and best practices: DDD, event-driven, microservices, API-first, integration, cloud-native.
5+ years of experience in eMobility software - strong interest and know how in the eMobility industry Strong leadership and mentoring abilities
Ability to influence and persuade stakeholders
Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong work ethic and a passion for technology.
